Why We ALL Need To Address Our Insecurities, Even Our Physical “Flaws”

Perhaps this may be a controversial topic to discuss, considering today’s highly politically correct and overly sensitive climate. However, I believe that while having radical self-love is important, we still need to pay attention to our insecurities and the emotions that the things we dislike about ourselves elicit on a day-to-day basis.

I have experienced my fair share of dealing with my own insecurities. I have been “insecure” for the greater part of my life.

And in the moments where I felt vulnerable enough to share what I deemed to be my “flaws” to others, I would be met with a barrage of bullsh*t, including (but not limited to):

“No way, you’re perfect the way you are”
“Who cares what others think?”
“As long as you love yourself, it doesn’t matter how you look on the outside”

Look… I understand that this comes from a well-intended heart, but it’s also annoying as shit for someone who is highly logical and rational to hear. Having insecurities has no direct correlation with how “perfect” one is, or what others think of you.

It is simply a state of mind that affects the person who carries the toxic thoughts and emotions surrounding what they deem to be their own…

I am multifaceted: I am a lover of science & medicine, but also of spirit & mind. I enjoy exploring the dichotomy, the duality and the connectedness in between.
